Obituary of Betty Louise Ann Beck

Mother, grandmother, sister and aunt passed away on September 21, 2023. She was 90 years old. Betty Louise Ann Thiel was born on May 11, 1933 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Francis and Vivian (Vaughan) Thiel. She married Charles Conrad Beck on August 2, 1952 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Saginaw. Betty was employed by Saginaw Tool and Die as a bookkeeper. She then opened her own flower shop, Originally Ours Flowers, retiring after many years of service. She was a member of St. Dominic Parish – St. Stephens Church for many years.

Betty loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed talking, lunches with her best friend Suzanne, shopping trips to Chicago, and working on puzzles. Betty frequently volunteered in her community, particularly at the Food Pantry, St. Vincent Home, Christmas Shops, as well as assisted many individuals with their taxes. Betty’s positivity and love for others inspired those around her.

Surviving are her children, Beverly (Bruce) Braun, Michael (Colleen) Beck, and Renee (James) Leibinger; grandchildren, Michael P. (Christie) Beck, Ashley (AJ) Quackenbush, Kory (Dana) Braun, Ryan (Kailie) Leibinger, Hannah (Alec) Chulumovich, Jim Braun, and Becky (Dave) Lea; great-grandchildren, Hallie, Atticus, Brady, Camden, Jordan, Ellianna, Teagan and Emme; brother, Francis (Jane) Thiel, many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband; Chuck, baby daughter; one son, Patrick Beck; brothers, Donald Thiel, Robert Thiel, and David Thiel.

FUNERAL SERVICE: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2023 at St. Dominic Parish – St. Stephens Church, 1310 Malzahn Street. Fr. Richard John will officiate. Cremation to follow the service. A Committal service will take place at a later date at St. Andrew Cemetery in Saginaw. 

VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at St. Dominic Parish – St. Stephens Church, 1310 Malzahn Street on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Hidden Harvest or the East Side Soup Kitchen.
