Mark and Andrea Fischer
Mark L. Fischer, Owner/Manager
Andrea Heilbronn Fischer, Owner/Funeral Director
Mark and Andrea Fischer are the husband-and-wife team behind Deisler Funeral Home in Saginaw. Both felt a personal calling to funeral service after experiencing the loss of a loved one at a young age: Mark in Litchfield, Minnesota, with the loss of his father and Andrea in her hometown of Saginaw, Michigan, with the loss of her grandfather. Their shared passion for helping families during difficult times led them to Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago, where they met and eventually began their journey together. They are proud to be the only licensed husband and wife team in the area as owners. They also hold licenses in the State of Illinois and pre-need licenses.
As first-generation funeral directors, Mark and Andrea are known for their hands-on, compassionate approach. They pride themselves on building meaningful relationships with families they serve and in going above and beyond to create personalized, memorable services. Whether it's a horse-drawn carriage or a Harley-Davidson hearse, they strive to honor each life with care, creativity, and attention to detail.
In 2015, they purchased McIntyre Funeral Chapel in Old Town Saginaw and rebranded the funeral home as Fischer Family Funeral Services. From the beginning, they have been involved in many community organizations and events, including The Old Town Business Association, Optimist Club of Saginaw, Positive Results in Downtown Saginaw, the City of Saginaw Riverfront Development, Saginaw Downtown Development Authority, Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra, Habitat for Humanity, Women’s National Farm and Garden Association, the Rotary Club, and several others. Their involvement has only increased their commitment to the community and to help Saginaw grow into the future. When they aren’t working or volunteering, they enjoy traveling, being outdoors, and spending time with their family.
In the Fall of 2024, Mark and Andrea had the opportunity to purchase Deisler Funeral Home from Thomas J. Deisler, fourth generation owner of his family’s business, one of the longest running funeral establishments in Saginaw County. Mark and Andrea are honored to continue the Deisler family legacy of care, compassion, and excellent service. They now have two locations in the Saginaw area in order to best serve their community, with Deisler Funeral Home in Saginaw Township and Fischer Family Funeral Services in the City of Saginaw.

Thomas J. Deisler
Former President, Owner and Manager of Deisler Funeral Home
Tom is a fourth-generation licensed funeral director, working in the funeral industry for over five decades. Born and raised in Saginaw, he worked side by side with his father, Edward G. Deisler Jr., until his passing in 2016. Tom served as the firm’s owner, president, and manager until selling the business to Mark and Andrea Fischer of Fischer Funeral Home in October 2024. Tom is grateful that the funeral home continues to be family owned and operated, continuing its history that began in 1888, marking more than 136 years of service to the Saginaw community.
Tom is a 1972 graduate of St. Stephen Catholic High School and a 1981 graduate of Wayne State University College of Mortuary Science. Tom became a licensed funeral director in 1982 and owner and manager of the funeral home in 1989. During his years at the funeral home, Tom started a grief support program, developed to assist families during the difficult period of adjustment that follows death. He also mentored students wishing to become licensed funeral directors, supported local charities, and enjoyed sponsoring numerous local Little League teams.
Tom kept his commitment to both family and the community by keeping the funeral home a family run business when choosing Mark and Andrea Fischer to continue the Deisler legacy of service to families with respect and dignity. Tom looks forward to the fresh ideas and new perspectives that the Fischers will bring to the funeral home.
Tom and his wife Lori have been married since 1981. Together they raised three children: Ryan (Jennifer) Deisler, Andrew (Ashley) Deisler, and Jessica (Jon) Meyer and are now enjoying six grandchildren, Bode, Smith, Cameron, Rory, Eliza and Edward (Teddy). Tom is a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #4232, Sons of The American Legion Post #439 Saginaw, VFW Men’s Auxiliary Post #1859 Saginaw, Michigan Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association.
Tom continues to serve as an integral part of his family's business as an advisor and licensed funeral director emeritus.

Licensed Funeral Director and Pre-Arrangement Advisor
Jenny has been a part of the Deisler Funeral Home family since April 2000. Born and raised in Auburn, she currently resides in Saginaw Township. Following high school, Jenny enrolled at Delta College, where she completed both her State of Michigan mortuary science prerequisites and graduated with an Associate's Degree. She and her husband Jeff have two sons: Ethan and Carter. Jenny has been a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church since 2004 and is active with mission work.
