Zilwaukee, Michigan

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 12, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was 84 years old. Gerald Atwood Stowe was born on February 27, 1938 in Petoskey, Michigan to the late Atwood and Helen (Cassidy) Stowe. He married Linda Burnham on November 28, 1959 in Petoskey. Together Gerald and Linda had six children. Linda preceded Gerald in death on March 17, 1990 after an extended illness. He married Patricia “Pat” A. (Luplow) Nichols on November 9, 1991, and with her three children, adding to his, they celebrated 31 wonderful years together.  

Jerry was a faithful member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Zilwaukee and then St. John Paul II Parish – St. Josaphat Catholic Church. He worked for UPS for 30 years until his retirement in 1998. Jerry also served on the Board of Directors for Lake Huron Credit Union, Saginaw. He was an avid U of M and Lions football fan, watching Tigers baseball, playing golf, gardening, making salsa and above all else, he loved to spend time with his family.

Gerald will be dearly missed by his wife, Pat; children: Timothy Stowe, Martin Stowe, Gerald J. (Sue) Stowe, Melissa (Craig) Prest, Patrick Stowe, Nathan (Haley) Stowe, Lisa Stoner and Jill (Bryan) Bivins; a special friend, Jerry Rethman; grandchildren: Lisa, Megan, Hunter, Austin, Alex, Emma, Samantha, Cameron, Maggie, Caleigh, Rylie, Addison, Mitchell, Jarred, Zachery, Brianna, Bailey, and Avery; great grandchildren: Colby, Baylee, Lennix, Parker, Liam, Madison and Paisley and an additional great granddaughter expected in June; and his sister, Jackie Furgeson; many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Linda; son, Todd Nichols; sisters: Doris Hopkins and Judy Leist.

Jerry’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the 4th floor staff of Covenant Healthcare – Cooper and Covenant VNA Hospice for the wonderful care that was provided to Jerry and his family.

SERVICE: In keeping with Jerry’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2023 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State), Saginaw, MI 48603.  Pastoral Associate Tori Little will officiate with private burial at St. Andrew Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
