Obituary of Gerald "Jerry" Brutkiewicz

Gerald (Jerry) Brutkiewicz of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Covenant Harrison Hospital. He was 91 years old.

Jerry was born in Saginaw to Herman and Celia (Nowicki) Brutkiewicz. He married Diana Lopez on March 10, 1953 in Orange County, California; she survives him.

He graduated from St. Mary’s High School, class of 1948. He proudly served his country from 1951 – 1954 in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was employed by The Kroger Company as a meatcutter, and retired after 42 years of service. He was a faithful member of SS. Peter & Paul Church. He enjoyed many years of playing blooper ball and participating in bowling leagues. Jerry was also an avid builder and flyer of radio-controlled airplanes. He lived in the home which he built and raised his family for more than 60 years.

Surviving are his wife Diana, children Sandy Palfrey and her partner, Bill BonDurant, Randy (Sue) Brutkiewicz, and Jean (John) Cameron, grandchildren Aaron, Alex and Amy, and many dear friends.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 19, 2022 at St. Dominic Catholic Church - SS. Peter & Paul site, 4735 W. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, Michigan 48638. Family and friends will gather at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

A graveside service with military honors under the auspices of the Untied States Marine Corps. and V.F.W. Post #22 will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Saginaw.

In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the Salvation Army, in his name.
