Obituary of Darwin D. Perkin

Perkin, Darwin D. Saginaw, Michigan Passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, January 24, 2021 at his residence, he was 73 years old. Darwin Dale Perkin was born November 10, 1947 in Lansing, Michigan to the late Wayne and Helen (Dormer) Perkin. He married Flora "Jane" Casper on April 28, 1987 in Libertyville, Illinois. She preceded him in death on December 13, 2019. Darwin proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years before joining the United States Navy. He served during the Vietnam War and the Gulf War. Darwin retired from the Navy after 24 years of service. He was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church and American Legion Post #439 for many years. He loved attending cultural events with his wife. Darwin also enjoyed traveling all over the world. He was mechanically inclined and liked anything mechanical. But, what he really loved most was his family. Surviving are his daughter, Charlotte; six grandchildren, Kylie, Summer, Bear Thomas, Levi, Loran, and Elizabeth; siblings, Glen (Karen) Perkin and Marilyn (Jerry) Morgan; brother in-law, Leonard (Christine) Casper; special niece, Christine (Ronald) Feenstra and many other nieces and nephews. Darwin was preceded in death by his son, Noll and his daughter, Sarah. FUNERAL SERVICE: A Funeral Service will take place at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2021 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Ruth Estell will officiate. Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Navy and American Legion Post # 439. Burial will take place at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Saturday, January 30, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. In keeping with mandated ordinances and for the safety of the community, face masks are required, social distancing, and gathering guidelines will be observed. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the City Rescue Mission, Saginaw or the Hospital Hospitality House of Saginaw-McNally House.
